is there a datebase or list/images of coins out there somewhere? i would be interested to know if any designs i think up have already been done or not.

Actually, one of my more nerdy hobbies is designing web applications for my own use. I was toying with the idea of creating my own web-based coin tracking software similar to the Cointracking or GeocoinCollection sites.

I wanted to merge the best ideas from both sites and add a few more fields, like # minted, finish, colours, etc. Instead of leaving it to the user to enter this info in the title. I also wanted to allow for all users to 'vote' on the image a person uploads for a coin. If enough people like a certain pic, then it would become the default for that coin/version.

Maybe this should be in another thread of its own rather than hi-jacking paganfrog's question.
