Ok, I know how to post a basic picture using the [ IMG ][ /IMG ] (leave out spaces) tags.
How do I:
1. Post a picture that when you click on it it will get bigger so you can see the detail (thumbnail)?
2. Have a picture "flip" like some on the ones geo.error posts?
Thanks, CF30 |

That second one is pretty cool!
HTML code... hmmmm.... will that work here? I see that HTML is an "option" that I can have turned on or off (currently off for me). Would I (everyone) have to enable HTML to see what I post correctly if I use HTML code?

Speaking of photos, does anyone have the picture for the granulation options in a size big enough to see???

Posted: Wed Jul 09, 2008 12:25 pm Post subject: Make your own FlipFlap coin |
|
|
How to make your coin FlipFlap
01 - Make a photo of the front of the coin
02 - Make a photo of the back of the coin
03 - Send the photo to the pc
04 - Open a photo in a tool to edit the photo.
(I use Microsoft Office Picture manager)
05 - Crop the photo so that the coin fits the image.
06 - Save now this picture as (name)_1
07 - Resize the picture to (Document small 800x600px)
08 - Remember the size that picture is now.
09 - Save now this picture as (name)_2
10 - Now open the photo of the other side of the coin
11 - Crop the photo so that the coin fits the image.
12 - Save now this picture as (name)_1
13 - Resize the picture to (Document small 800x600px)
14 - Remember the size that picture is now.
15 - Save now this picture as (name)_2
16 - If the size of the both pictures in step 8 and 12 ar not the same.
Open the picture _2 which is the greater one of the two.
Crop this picture again until the size is the same as the other one.
If you have to crop the picture so that a part of the coin is missing.
You open the original photo again and go further with step 11 bud now
you crop the photo so that there is a border arround the coin.
17 - Now you have a small croped version of both sides of your coin with the same size.
18 - Now you open the _2 photo of you coin that has de code on it into a photo editor.
(I use Microsoft paint for this step)
19 - You remove the tracking number of the coin.
20 - Save the picture.
21 - Now you open one side of the coin in a tool that can made animated gif files.
(I use Gimp for this job) Gimp is free you can find it at http://www.gimp.org/
22 - In gimp you select file -> open as layer (select the other side of the coin)
Now you see that there are 2 layers in use.
23 - File -> save as -> name.GIF !!!!! has to get a GIF extension !!!!!
Select save as animation and choose export
I use as delay time 2500 miliseconds and i select the option to use this
delay time for all frames.
Now you choose save. and your Flip Coin is ready.
24 - Now you have to save this image someware on the internet.
(I use http://photobucket.com/ )
25 - On your coinpage at http://www.geocaching.com you have to place the following line
as first line by the mission.
<img src="http://i267.photobucket.com/../../my_flip.gif" width="30%" align=right border="0" alt="My_Flip"></a>
Replace in the line above http://i267.photobucket.com/../../my_flip.gif with the internet-link to your coin
If you like an other size of the picture change the width in this line and see wath happens.
Good luck with it.
If you now still not can made your own flip coin send a coin to Geo.Error and we will made the file for you (But we keep the coin) |

How to post clickable thumbnails that open a bigger version:
Code: | [url=http://afan.dk/pictures/dem_bigger.gif][img]http://afan.dk/pictures/dem_thumb.gif[/img][/url] |
1) First post the url of your thumbnail, highlight it and click the Img-button, making the thumbnail image show.
2) Highlight it all, including the img tag, and click the URL button.
3) In the tag, insert ="url of your big picture" between the l and the ] and presto. |

Been busy with work, planning the trip to MWGB, trying to learn how to do a Wherigo cache & other things. Plus I dropped my camera about a month ago & the lash stopped working so I can only take pictures during the day on nice days (raining here right now...) So, if you add all my excuses together, I have not gotten around to it yet...
But at least now I know HOW to do them, thank you!
