Anything goes? seems so these days.
One could say there is no political agenda to this coin, just a marketing one. I have a few questions 1)Is this appropriate for geocaching? 2) Do you think Groundspeak should have approved this design? and lastly - the question was raised regarding the use of copyrighted logos, which hasn't been answered - 3) does anybody really care? |

Those coins are not interesting to me, i give them a quick look.
but i understand when American cachers would buy them.
This is very important for them amd i think they are more fanatic as us with politic as us european.
I would not buy such coin but when i find it in a cache i will move it to a other cache just like i do with other coins. |

i think politics is an ugly theme to use for a coin. geocoins are supposed to be fun and enjoyable, politics is not fun or enjable, it is an agenda that has no place in a worldwide hobby.
most of these agendas being shoved in our faces are an interest that only a small percentage of the world actively plays a part in, so this in a way is excluding the majority.
politics and religion, and any other agenda that serves no helpful purpose to most people, should not be allowed.
i thought that was the rules, but then i suppose theres is someone willing to ignore the rules when it means money in the bank for them. im saying no names. i mean why would a geocoin with a tracking number be allowed to be advertised, but another coin or geocaching related item, being sold to raise money for charity be deleted from view and the poster be banned for a while.
yes you got it,
money talks.
i think geocoin makers should keep to enjoyable and interesting themes. |

Not a lot of interest in this coin as well . The copy rite question is interesting and unanswered. I'm sure the people at Oak coins are nice But Politics in any country is always a issue where if you stand up to say look at me You are doing so in a place where either side could take shoots at you. Did these coins need to be Made No Will they sell a few Sure If it was just vote for Geocaching coin only then i dont think there is a issue . They want to sell to coins to make some coin . Live with the decision just like every one will have to on the day after the election. |

It doesn't look like much of an answer to me, about as convincing as saying we definitely looked in the right place for the cache but we didn't see it, so we are logging it anyway |

I did not like those coins. Donīt think there should be that obvious politics in the coinworld.

Well I see they are going the pre-order route with this one, since they are not meant to use the logo anyway, maybe they will rethink producing this coin. |

I'm totally baffeled, why those designs went through with Groundspeak!
Advertising is not permitted in Cachelistings, not even when one just states that there's nice food available nearby.
How come, that advertising for the candidates is permitted?
Now, if one like to make a coin religion themed, war themed or anything I don't really have a problem with.
Even the vote geocaching has a kind of nice ring to it and would be totally appropiate in my eyes. But the names of the candidates on them? No way.
The strange voting system in the US is baffling enough for one who doesn't live there. And the astonishingly amount of money spend on advertising could be put to better use in my opinion as well...
To drag this topic into the fun environment of coins is just bad taste.
I won't buy them, but I'm not going as far as cutting oak coins per se, there are to many nice coins produced by them! It's more that I'm disappointed in Groundspeak for appoving such designs.

because these coins will be trackable...and who do you think own these trackable numbers in the first place??
yes you got it, groundspeak.
the rules of no advertisments seems to only be followed when groundspeak cant dip their fingers into the pie.
so that means any charities adverts get the boot while something obnoxious like trackable political geocoins is allowed to stay. |

Oh I'm sorry, how stupid of me not see that!
Advertising is only permittable when they make any cut on it! _________________ Be yourself so others may recognize you

How come the thread over in the Big Blue is closed?
Oak coins didn't like the way people kept asking about trademarks? _________________ Be yourself so others may recognize you
