I'm hoping to get this coin done in time for the start of the hockey playoffs (April 15th). I know I'm cutting it close, but there's nothing too fancy about this coin. I was going to do lots of textures and translucent enamels. But when I got this far, I just thought it looked perfect and stopped.
Hope you like it.

Nice. I especially like the silhouettes in raised metal on the back side. _________________ Are we there yet?

Nice! Like the hockey puck feel to the front and the nice text execution. That night caching scene with raised sillouettes on the back has a vaguely familiar feel to it _________________ The harder the task, the greater the reward! |

Really?!??
Aw crap. I should have done a search first I guess.
Now that I look, I see that the GC&PC October 2006 uses a similar scene.
And the Wandelaartjes 2008 uses the raised metal silhouettes
And here I thought I was being all original. _________________ "Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!" -- The Tick |

As in a resent post It is hard to have a totally original idea . And if it is a good idea its not a surpise that it has been done . As long as your image is original Go with it. The front is your main idea and the back goes well with it. _________________ A way to use missing or stolen tracking numbers. |

Don't worry, I put a family and dog on a ridgeline because I didn't want to tackle the tree line, but you did it fabulously.
I haven't seen the Wandelaartjes 2008. Where'd you see it? _________________ The harder the task, the greater the reward! |

The front of your coin is directly from Hockey Night in Canada. It appears that you use others existing designs and change them slightly. Why not come up with a design of your own for the front? |

Because the play on the iconic HNiC logo was the whole point of this coin.
I'm quite happy with the design I came up with for the back of the coin -- even though I have since learned that it shares elements with some other coins -- but without the design for the front, I don't think I would have bothered with it at all. And I'm sure that the vendor who is producing it wouldn't have either. _________________ "Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!" -- The Tick |

3geeks tells me that this coin is in production. Hopefully it will be here in just a couple more weeks!
They changed the artwork a little bit (no reason given) and some (if not all) will have glow-in-the-dark enamel for the flashlight beam. I'm kinda put out over the artwork change, but it's their money.
I'll post pics as soon as I have them in hand. _________________ "Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!" -- The Tick |

The back. He changed the 'track at geocaching.com' from enamel-filled metal that was part of the tracking # cartouche to all metal above the cartouche. _________________ "Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!" -- The Tick |

I was talking to thelostgeek the other night and he said the mass production has been given the go-ahead. Hopefully they will be shipped before the final round of the playoffs.
The finishes will be: nickel, copper, gold/glow, satin gold/glow.
The last is my AE version -- 10 are being made. I don't know the numbers for the other finishes, but I believe they are still going with a run of only 100 total coins. _________________ "Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!" -- The Tick |

The coin looks great!
Sorry to be dumb, but what has this night caching with hockey to do? _________________ Be yourself so others may recognize you

Usually nothing... unless you are torn between watching a hockey game or going caching!
But the front side of the coin is an adaptation of a well-known logo here in Canada for the state-run broadcaster's show "Hockey Night in Canada". _________________ "Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!" -- The Tick |

3geeks told me that the coins arrived, but most of the shipment had the wrong enamel/finish combos. Apparently my AE coins are fine, but there is nothing that 3geeks is willing to put on his site at the moment.
I'll hopefully meet with him tonight and see what he plans to do. _________________ "Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!" -- The Tick |

Oh gosh what a disappointment, I hope it all gets sorted out quickly for you, I know how exciting it is getting a coin done so having delays is incredibly frustrating. Although the finish combos may not be what you ordered, do they really look so bad ?
What happens next, will they have to be reminted? Will you get to see what they sent ? |

I saw the coins tonight. What was described as a 'total mess' turns out to be two fill areas that the colours were reversed in. He had to point it out to me before I spotted it. Of course, now that I see it, it is quite obvious.
My edition and the other glow edition were fine, but the nickel and copper with normal enamel had the mint error.
I think he has decided to sell them as is. They're his coins, so I guess it is his call. _________________ "Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!" -- The Tick |

3geeks has decided to have the entire run of coins reminted. So they are no longer on their website. I'll post back here when the coins are available again. _________________ "Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!" -- The Tick |
