Hey everyone,

I was wondering if we need a coin for this forum. Obviously non-trackable. Something like this:

The reverse would have a spot for our own tracking numbers, and caching name. Haven't thought it through too much beyond that.

Anyone have another design?

Great slogan!

I'm not very good when it comes to creativity and design, so I'll leave this to others. But I like the idea!

Nice job, but is there any possibility of doing a different edge graphic than the Celtic knotwork?

I guess I'm getting a bit burned out on it, even though my own coins have used them in the past. I'm trying to move away from just Celtic knotwork, it seems to be being used a lot nowadays!

Any chance? And no, lol, I don't have any ideas! I do love the texture behind the words and think that it would look great with a light colored translucent enamel over it to show off the texture!

I know exactly what you're saying, Naomi. Even though some of my favourite coins use the Celtic motif (2007 Cornwall, 2007 Isle of Man), I'm starting to see too much of it. But I saw the Celtic spirals and thought they would make a great background. And what goes with Celtic spirals but Celtic knots? Smile

Perhaps and English Ivy border, or something Art Deco? It may be hard to find something to match the background that isn't Celtic.

Here's a thought... how but putting cacher's names around the outer rim?

There are some GREAT wingding type fonts out there. Half the fun of it all is researching and finding them. My goodness, you should see my font folder... lemme look really quick and see how many I have....

Oh geez, I should NOT have looked, roflmao!

I've got 821 installed fonts, 92 mbs worth!!!

Do some searching for free fonts and then look around the sites and see what you come up with!

Wingdings ain't boring, funky symbols anymore, trust me!

Wingdings huh? I take it you have to pay for the downloads?

For text - have you guys been to dafont? I love the ability to try out/sample the text choices there.

Anyway, I like the idea of people holding hands around the edge of the coin...sort of like the lacky coin people. I think that coin is pretty cool.

But I like the little swirlies in the background on the coin picture posted too.

Oh - and why not make it trackable? I think that would be HILLARIOUS!

Nope, there are hundreds upon thousands of free font sites on the net!

Trust me, I'm too danged poor to afford to buy fonts, but boy, can I search out free ones Wink

Naomi... who also likes the swirls in the background!

PS speaking of the swirls, make random swirls different levels if you're going to cover them with a translucent enamel to give a 3D effect under it!

Me too, really. And tho I surely wouldn't want to see it in all coin designs, I don't get tired of seeing it, either. Very Happy

I like the celtic stuff too!...The design is nice, but it just seems a little too simple to me. I know it was done on the fly and it really is nice and even clever, but if we do a coin- we should make it as WOW as possible!

Not too awful many suggestions here, but we shoud think it out real well and come up with a killer coin...we could definatley use the wording as its pretty good! I mean theres all of us here- we auta have some good ideas for a sweet coin...

Maybe on the back we could come up with somethin really good! Maybe slight references to how things should be...like FSM on a fork!!! Very Happy Really just kidding there- It was just a funny thought! (id better delete that later! Wink )

I had the term CoinMatters Commandos earlier run through my head, OH- It was Yimes post I think!!! Just remembered!- Thats kinda nifty.

Ill try to think of what I can to contribute to ideas...Great job so far- I just thought it woulda taken a bit longer for us to get a coin!...But why- i looks like we've taken off quite well!

Another thought Ive always liked is to have a true community coin, where NObody profits from it,( but maybe the coin company) designers payed in coinage and whoever ships em out aswell.

Basically sell it at just above cost to cover the coinage for the people who put the work into it...Waddaya think?~ Its kinda always been a vision of mine and we did it in th echat room when it was fresh. Castleman minted the coin and we all got around 15 of em for around 40.00! We even chose what personalization we wanted on there...It was a great deal! I still got a few for anyone who may want a trade! Very Happy

Why not make them trackable at http://www.travelertags.com/ ?

That would be even better as the codes are cheaper and takes away from GC.c

They can also be tracked on Navicache and Terracaching.

You could list all the sub-forum tiltes on the coin, maybe in an underlying detail in translucents.

Maybe even list the stats of Coinmatters...i.e.

Members during time of coin production or How long in operation (Months, weeks, days) Number of topic, replies etc.

maybe a Coin matters Logo...???~ Ive always thought a geocoin needed its own logo...Kinda like thecent has a cent symbol, but special for a geocoin.

And Id say trackable on a different tracking site to keep cost low and keep things interesting!

If there is enough interest I would front the funds to make this as long as we get enough people that are members here that want some. We can make it at cost and shipping. Just lemme know. A similar coin was produced for another chat area that is not used much anymore and we did the same thing.

Ok are you like the nicest guy in the world or what? What a generous offer! Cool

I like the idea about a logo for this place and having that on the coin.

You know how sometimes when you are drifting off to sleep and suddenly an idea pops into your head (these can be both good and bad ideas - LoL)? I had this happen the other day about this coin and the phrase "Freedom is on the march" popped into my head.

Now I won't say anything about the person who first said that phrase....talk about off topic....but isn't what we all like best about this place is the freedom to talk about anything? Maybe "Freedom is on the move" would be better?

Just a raw idea here - we do have 2 sides to work with, right? Very Happy

I like this idea and would be in for the sale. (Thanks CM, I've fronted for coins so I know what this means, too...)

I like the idea of personalizing it somehow, like the little folk holding hands. I wonder if there is another motif that would be similar but different enough that it wouldn't look "copied" from GC's lackey geocoin or from the "You've Got Mail Mailbox" geocoin. I can't think of one off hand.

How about an upthrust (or open ) hand holding a geocoin that says "Semper Omnis Geocoins!" (Always All Geocoins!)
