ive been unable to decide if i should register the coins i collect.

i have some i will definantly be keeping for good, and others i may swap for different coins. but the thing is i would like to collect the coin icons on my profile page.
do people prefer to get unregistered coins?

If you are trading them they are prefered to be unactivated.
sometimes you will trade for an active coin but it is always stated before that it is active and the new owner does have the option to delete any old logs on it.

i activate coins that i know i am not going to part with and have them in a folder which i am happy to share with anyone when they meet me at an event.
i do like collecting the icon on my page as much as the coin in my collection.

Maybe coins, leave unactivated, definately never part with coins activate.
And to be honest if you fell on hard times and needed to sell them someone in the forums would buy them active!

When I first started collecting geocoins I activated them. I did like the icons at the time. But now I really wish I hadn't done that. I think if I am ever to activate a coin again it will be because I am going to release it into the wild. Coins are much easier to sell and trade when they are not activated and you never know when you'll get tired of having certain coins sitting in your collection.
